Southern New Hampshire University Awards Global M.B.A. Scholarship
Manchester, NH (Vocus) November 6, 2009 -- Southern New Hampshire University's Go-Getters Challenge, a two-month campaign to award one contestant a free Global M.B.A., named Sarah Anne Lewis, of Waterbury, VT, its winner. Lewis was selected among three finalists, who appeared live on "FOX25 Morning News" Nov. 2. Each contestant had one minute to explain how an SNHU Global M.B.A. would impact their life. Viewers then voted online and a panel of SNHU judges determined the final winner.
Lewis recently returned from a volunteer trip to Nicaragua with Grounds for Health, a Vermont-based organization that conducts sustainable cervical cancer screening and treatment for women in Tanzania, Nicaragua and Mexico. She worked in Boston for the past three years in international public health policy with the WHO and Harvard Medical School on projects to improve access to and use of essential medicines.
"I am excited for the opportunity to earn a Global MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and hope to apply this knowledge towards improving the standards of living for people within these populations, particularly for women," said Lewis.
The campaign was unveiled on the "FOX25 Morning News" Sept. 15 broadcast. Contestants were required to write a 500-word essay explaining how a Global M.B.A. would impact their lives. SNHU staff and faculty members served as judges and selected six semi-finalists. On-campus interviews followed and the field was then narrowed to three. The campaign generated over 1 million online impressions and candidates from around the country.
"Sarah is everything we could hope for in a winner," said SNHU President Paul LeBlanc. "She has a clear-eyed vision of how she wants to put her MBA to work to better the world and the passion and smarts to deliver on that ambition."
