NEW YORK, Dec. 2 NY-Harnisch-elect
NEW YORK, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruth Ann Harnisch, a leader in
coaching-related philanthropy, will join the Board of Trustees of the
International Coach Federation Foundation for a three-year term beginning
January 1, 2009.
The ICF Foundation's mission is to support coaching research, pro bono
coaching and other studies related to the coaching profession.
"The ICF Foundation's mission is to bring coaching to people across the
world," says ICF Foundation 2008 President Kay Cannon, ICF Master Certified
Coach. "So our Trustees are a diverse group of accomplished individuals from
across the globe."
Harnisch is President of The Harnisch Foundation, which serves as a
catalyst for sustainable social change through philanthropy, coaching and
journalism.
In recent years, The Harnisch Foundation's funding in the field of
coaching has included:
-- The Foundation of Coaching, in year three of a ten-year commitment to
offer $100,000 annually for academically rigorous coaching-related
research
-- Seed grants for emerging coaching-related philanthropies, including The
Coach Initiative and The Coach Approach
-- Grants to nonprofits to underwrite executive coaching for leaders and
fundraisers
-- The Coaching Commons, an online meeting place where "all things
coaching" are explored by a lively international community
-- The Gift of Coaching, an online registry where coaches offer free
coaching as an act of service, will launch in early 2009.
-- The Harnisch Foundation, in conjunction with the W.K. Kellogg
Foundation, David & Lucile Packard Foundation and James Irvine
Foundation, funded The Coaching and Philanthropy project run by Compass
Point Non Profit Services. This project grew out of the recognition
that the fields of coaching and philanthropy have much to contribute to
one another, and applies coaching as a strategy for building effective
organizations within the non-profit world.
-- With the Coaching and Positive Psychology Initiative at Harvard Medical
School McLean Hospital, The Harnisch Foundation presented the
International Coaching Research Forum. Leading coaching researchers
from around the world gathered for the first time. The attendees
produced 100 suggestions for coaching research studies that could help
the field of coaching to reach the next level of professionalism.
On September 27, 2008, Harnisch was honored with the Vision of Excellence
Award at the first Harvard Coaching Conference "Coaching: A New Horizon"
recognizing her contributions of energy, resources, talent and money to the
coaching field.
Harnisch is a member of the International Coach Federation as well as the
International Association of Coaches. She served on the Board of Governors of
the IAC as well as the Board of the Thomas J. Leonard Foundation.
Ruth Ann Harnisch is an IAC certified professional coach. In her pro bono
practice, Ruth Ann is a "thinking partner" to high-net-worth individuals,
entrepreneurs, executives, authors, scientists, doctors, performers, and other
dynamic individuals.
"I am honored to join the ICF Foundation Board," said Ruth Ann Harnisch.
"We are witnessing a global emergence of collaboration and cooperation in
coaching. Coaching communities and coaching cultures kept apart by their
differences are now coming together and concentrating on what they have in
common. Through that collaboration and non-duplication of efforts, the
coaching community can work creatively, globally and efficiently to advance
the field of coaching."
"I am thrilled that our work at The Harnisch Foundation and the mission of
the ICF Foundation are compatible -- we are both interested in the ethical
practice of coaching worldwide and believe that coaching can ultimately help
people everywhere live happier, healthier, and more productively."
Founded by Ruth Ann Harnisch in 1998, The Harnisch Foundation serves as a
catalyst for sustainable social change, funding and implementing innovation in
