TORONTO -- 03/12/08 --
The
Requirements Forum today announced
the availability of the Requirements.net podcast series, "Requirements
Unplugged," free on the iTunes store (
www.itunes.com) as well as the
Requirements.net website (
www.requirements.net). Hosted by Matthew Morgan
of Blueprint and Keith Barrett of Sky IT Group, the bi-weekly podcast
tackles the largest issues facing CIOs and their software development
organizations today. Guests on the podcast discuss best practices and
lessons learned to improve poor
software requirements practices.
Founded in 2008 by Blueprint, HP, CorTechs, Orasi, Sky IT Group, and the
Requirements Networking Group, the Requirements Forum aims to raise
awareness of the critical need to define and manage software requirements
so the end product truly meets the business needs.
The latest episode of the podcast, available today, will feature an
interview with Mark Sarbiewski, Sr. Director of HP Software Quality
Management Products. Sarbiewski will discuss the ever-growing role of
requirements management as part of quality management, as well as the
growing importance of security practices as part of the software
development lifecycle (SDLC).
The next episode of the podcast, scheduled for March 26th, will feature an
interview with Alistair Cockburn of Humans and Technology. Dr. Cockburn is
best known for co-authoring the Manifesto for Agile Software Development
and for his book Writing Effective Use Cases. He is also an internationally
known expert on project management, object-oriented design, and development
processes. Dr. Cockburn was special advisor to the Central Bank of Norway
in 1998, and has worked in companies of all sizes, from startups to Fortune
100 companies, around the world.
In addition, future podcast guests include Richard Matthews, founder of the
Requirements Networking group, and Theresa Lanowitz of Voke Inc.
"The Requirements Forum is aiming to be the industry's leading source for
discussions and education on how best to define and manage requirements
throughout the SDLC," said Matthew Morgan, CMO of Blueprint. "This new podcast series is
just another example of how Requirements.net is leading the industry
charge, and helping organizations keep up with rapid innovations that are
changing the face of software development."
"The Requirements Forum strives to improve education and awareness of the
cost of bad requirements, and the best ways for organizations to improve
their requirements practices," said Keith Barrett, RLA Practice Manager at
SKY IT Group. "These podcasts will feature organizations that have focused
on three key principles -- getting it right at the beginning, putting
business and IT interests on the same page, and introducing metrics to
measure requirements effectiveness -- to enable more efficient, cost
effective software development that truly delivers what the business
needs."
