BOSTON, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- A 30-member panel comprising general
counsels from major reinsurance companies, regulatory agencies, law firms,
ratings organizations, financial firms and the media will gather at the
Ritz-Carlton Boston Commons next week, Oct. 6-7, to discuss a variety of
issues facing the complex and global reinsurance industry.
Presiding over the event will be Forrest Krudder, General Counsel & Senior
VP of Berkshire Hathaway Group and Jonathan Bank of Locke Lord Bissell &
Liddell. Locke Lord just received the highest rankings in Global Broker &
Underwriter Magazine's 2008 legal survey, earning a #1 position in several
practice areas, including reinsurance.
A keynote address will be delivered by ACE North America General Counsel
Kevin M. Rampe, and a panel of general counsels from Platinum Underwriters,
Clarendon Insurance, Lexington Insurance, XL Financial, and Farmers Group will
tackle hot topics from compliance to enterprise risk management to the impact
of the current soft market. This panel will be moderated by Lawrence Brandes
of DLA Piper.
A panel on ratings comprises speakers from Standard & Poor's, Moody's
Investor Services and Fitch Ratings. Among them is Gary Martucci of Standard
& Poor's, who will discuss securitization ratings, cash flow projections,
stress testing, key rating concerns, the evolution of ratings methodology, and
much more.
Berkshire Hathaway's Krutter is moderating a panel on emerging
opportunities in Asian markets. On the panel are Klaus Kunze, who recently
joined DLA Piper in New York as senior advisor, and Geoffrey Bromley, vice
chairman at AON Re Global in London.
Other participants include professionals from Covington & Burling, Dewey &
LeBoeuf, Ince & Co., AON Re, Clifford Chance, Crowell & Moring, LVL Claims
Services and Business Insurance magazine. The California and Pennsylvania
departments of insurance will be represented on a panel discussion of
regulatory matters.
