OCEANSIDE, CA -- 11/09/09 --
Despite a flagging economy and a hard-hit events industry, one business-to-business publication serving the exposition industry broke the double-digit barrier in year-to-year growth. According to min, the leading authority on business-to-business media, Trade Show Executive (TSE) magazine increased its ad pages 18 percent in August 2009 over the same issue a year ago.
Citing the latest numbers from IMS/The Auditor, which tracks advertising in more than 3,100 magazines, min's b2b November 2, 2009 issue placed TSE in the Top 20 business-to-business titles, ranking the monthly publication 11th in ad-page gains in August.
Darlene Gudea, president, Trade Show Executive Media Group, acknowledges the challenging environment in which the magazine still finds itself. "For trade show pubs, our bread and butter advertisers are cities and state governments. With so many experiencing cutbacks in essential services, it's often difficult for them to justify advertising campaigns in trade magazines." But Gudea and her sales staff have succeeded in convincing many cities that advertising with Trade Show Executive pays off. "If a city can bring in just one show of 2,000 attendees, it can have a $2 million economic impact on the local economy."
The min's b2b article reports that Trade Show Executive has eclipsed its closest competitors with 300 ad pages sold through August. Additionally, TSE has grown at a compounded annual rate of 29 percent over the past five years. At the same time, others in the trade show sector slipped as much as 35 percent in ad-page numbers from August to August.
