MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - (Business Wire)
Kewill (LSE: KWL), a leading provider of global solutions for the dynamic supply network, today announced that Purolator Courier Ltd., Canada
’s largest courier company, has started the roll-out of its Kewill-developed solution to more than 4,000 customer sites across Canada.
A significant milestone has been reached in Purolator’s efforts to deliver its next generation shipping solution to its customers. From October 2006 to date, Purolator and Kewill have been working together to develop a shipping solution that would meet market requirements and to deliver a more flexible and dynamic platform to better serve Purolator’s customers.
The Kewill solution, branded Purolator E-ShipTM Server has also been integrated with a new SAP implementation. Having successfully completed the pilot program with more than 30 customers, Purolator’s phased client migration approach to more than 4,000 customer sites is expected to be completed within a year. By the end of the customer migration approximately 40% of Purolator’s volume will flow through the new Purolator E-ShipTM Server.
In addition to achieving this major milestone, Purolator now offers key features in its new shipping solution including:
- Browser-based server solution to increase scalability
- Stronger integration capabilities
- More flexible billing options
- Rapid look-up of customer addresses
- Ability to better manage transportation costs by capturing all associated services and fees
- Enhanced return management process
- More options to better manage customer shipping patterns, such as Future Ship and Ship to Hold.
In addition, Purolator customers will benefit from the ability to easily compare and select shipment service offerings and pricing through the advanced technology and user interface design. Dial-up connectivity has been replaced with IP-based communications enabling enterprise application integrations. These integrations will allow shipping information to seamlessly transfer to warehouse management systems and enhance customer efficiencies.
“With the legacy technologies that we needed to replace, we knew we needed to work with a solution provider that could offer us a flexible, robust architecture,” said Jim McDade, Senior Vice President and CIO for Purolator. “Kewill’s well-established footprint in the industry and understanding of our goals made it an obvious choice in allowing us to provide our customers with a more advanced shipping solution.”
“Kewill Flagship was developed to meet the needs of the world’s most demanding shippers with capabilities unmatched in the industry,” said Mike Dolan, COO, Kewill enterprise shipping. “We are delighted to be working with Canada’s most significant carrier. Once Purolator has completed its deployment, Purolator E-Ship™ Server will play an important role in introducing new features, functionality and capabilities to Purolator’s customers.
