RIMOUSKI, QUEBEC -- 08/04/09 -- In order to perform a resource calculation that complies with Standard 43-101, Exploration Puma (TSX VENTURE: PUM) has resampled three previous surface drillholes located on the main mineralized lens. The first two resampled drillholes are located directly on the core of the main lens and respectively contain 1.72% Cu over 56.5 metres and 4.0% Cu over 23.2 metres. The third drillhole located on the immediate extension of the lens intersected about 25 metres of massive sulphide with 0.8% Cu and 1.0% Zn over 7 metres.

In addition to confirming and measuring the grade of the mineralized lens, detailed examination of the drill core enabled the identification of mineralized zones that had not been sampled by the previous operators. In fact, the upper and lower portions of the mineralized zone in Drillhole H88-106 had not been sampled. The mineralized lens is now seen to extend over a length of 56.5 metres, compared to 43.9 metres initially.

A thorough reexamination of the drill core is under way at the New Brunswick core shack, to identify all the zones that were not sampled and to define the mineralized lenses' true extensions. First, about 25% of the available holes will be logged and resampled by Puma's geologists. If major mineralized zones are identified during this work, the Company will resample all of the drillholes.

Puma Exploration has received the annual $100,000 grant awarded by the Government of New Brunswick for the assessment of mineralized deposits located in New Brunswick, with the objective of providing an updated resource estimate for the Turgeon deposit that complies with Standard 43-101.

About Turgeon

The Turgeon deposit is located only 20 kilometres north of the Nicholas-Denys property, and 5 km south of the deepwater port of Belledune. The property is accessible by road all year round, and is crossed by a power line.

Since work started in 1958, 132 holes have been drilled on the deposit for a total drill advance of more than 26,630 metres. In 1983, Esso Minerals used the drilling results to estimate an historic resource of 1.5 to 2.0 million tonnes grading 1.5% Cu and 4% Zn. These mineral resource estimates were carried out before Standard NI 43-101 was put in place, and it is not certain that Puma's work will confirm the historic resources. They are presented for information purposes, to illustrate the scope of the mineralization.

The deposit consists of four lenses of rich zinc-copper mineralization, two of which are exposed on surface. By way of example, drill intersections with 12.4% Zn and 1.8% Cu over 8.7 metres, and 10.7% Zn and 0.7% Cu over 10.1 metres have been encountered in one of the zinc-rich lenses. Spectacular copper intersections are also found, e.g., boreholes E82-77 with 2.5% Cu over 34.1 metres, E82-54 with 2.7% Cu over 36.2 metres, and E82-46 with 7.9% Cu over 7.5 metres.

The samples were analyzed at the ALS Chemex laboratory in Val d'Or using the atomic absorption and ICP methods. The contents of this press release were prepared by Geologist Marcel Robillard, a Qualified Person as defined in NI 43-101.
