MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio - (Business Wire) Two car insurance Web sites from Progressive that make it easier for drivers to buy and service their insurance policies or to find a local, independent insurance agent received Standard of Excellence WebAwards from the Web Marketing Association (WMA).

According to the WMA, progressive.com and progressiveagent.com were recognized for outstanding achievements in Web site development and maintaining a standard of excellence for which all Web sites should strive.

Progressive is always looking for ways to reinvent the online experience and make it easy for drivers to shop for, buy and own car insurance, said Toby Alfred, general manager with Progressives customer acquisition group. Were excited to be recognized by an organization with a history of setting high benchmarks and industry standards for Web site development.

Pawan Divakarla, marketing process manager for progressiveagent.com, echoed those sentiments.

The Standard of Excellence WebAward is affirmation that weve developed an effective, easy-to-use tool for people who want to quote and buy insurance through an independent agent, said Divakarla.

Both sites feature customer-friendly tools.

In addition to being the first major auto insurance company in the world to have a Web site and sell auto policies in real-time online, Progressive was also the first major car insurer to launch a Web 2.0 site. The site lets users get more from their visits by sharing their experiences with others or having the experience delivered to them in blogs, RSS readers and personal home pages.

On progressiveagent.com, the Find an Agent function allows customers to search for local independent agents by entering their ZIP code and selecting the type of insurance theyre interested in. The Get a Quote function allows customers to get a fast, free online car insurance quote and even have their information sent electronically to an agency of their choice to complete the sale. Customers can also manage their policy or make a payment online.

The WMA was founded in 1997 and produces the annual WebAward competition, which names the best Web sites in 96 industries. Sites are evaluated on seven criteria including design, copy writing, innovation, content, interactivity, technology, and ease of use. More than 2,400 Web sites from 45 countries were judged during this years competition. These are the sixth and seventh WebAwards won by Progressive.
