New Niveus 4200 and Relion 700 Integrate Latest Intel Xeon Quad Core CPUs and Solid State Drives in a Top-of-the-Line Personal Supercomputer and Energy Efficient Server
(PRWEB) November 18, 2009 -- Penguin Computing, experts in high performance computing solutions, today announced that it has added two new systems – the powerful Niveus 4200 personal supercomputer and the innovative “green” server Relion 700 -- to its expanding line-up of high performance Linux platforms. The Niveus 4200 represents the new top model of Penguin’s personal supercomputing and technical workstation line, while the Relion 700 is an energy efficient rackmountable server for large server farm and cloud deployments.
“The new Niveus 4200 and Relion 700 demonstrate Penguin’s continuing commitment to delivering innovative, finely-tuned Linux workstations for the most demanding users,” said Charles Wuischpard, CEO Penguin Computing. “Now the most powerful offering in Penguin’s line of technical workstations, the Niveus 4200 not only has the top-of-the-line Intel CPU and chipset technologies, but it can be further augmented with visualization and GP-GPU computing technologies from NVIDIA and ATI.”
The Niveus 4200 workstation provides a number of high-end Intel technologies and components to support high performance computing and technical workstation applications. It uses Intel Xeon 5500 series Quad Core CPUs, including the ultra high performance W5580 (3.2GHz) and W5590 (3.33GHz) models. Storage options include Intel solid state drives based on SLC (single level cell) technology.
Penguin Relion 700 Server platform emphasizes environmentally smart design and power management strategy focused on efficiency. These green features can add up to substantial total cost of ownership (TCO) savings, from single server deployments to large server farm and cloud roll-outs. The Relion 700 features Intel Xeon 5500 low voltage CPUs, high efficiency power supplies and advanced power monitoring and management support on server and server farm level.
“The ‘green’ Relion 700 targets our core distributed computing and Web infrastructure markets,” continued Wuischpard. “Not just a highly efficient standalone server, the Relion 700 includes sophisticated networked power management to fine-tune and trim the power usage of large clusters and clouds.”
The new Penguin Niveus 4200 and Relion 700 systems and several other existing models are available for immediate delivery. For more information, please visit Penguin Computing at (www.penguincomputing.com) or call 1-888-Penguin.
