CHELMSFORD, Mass., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Office Media Network has been named as a defendant in a patent infringement suit filed in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. The suit was filed by Captivate Network, a division of Gannett Satellite Network, Inc. which is a subsidiary of Gannett Co., Inc.
The complaint alleges that OMN infringes upon U.S. Patent Nos. 6,288,688, 6,622,826, 6,981,576, and 7,270,219, all owned by Captivate. The '688, '826, '576, and '219 patents each describe an elevator display system, which allows for the distribution and display of short messages in elevator cabs. Each of the patents further describes a method for providing information to the display units. Because OMN had been put on notice of the patents, the complaint alleges that OMN's infringement has been and continues to be willful and seeks damages, attorney's fees and an injunction.
Captivate Network was the first to capitalize on an untapped advertising market by utilizing displays in elevators in office towers. Installed in office buildings throughout North America, Captivate Network's system delivers advertising, news, and entertainment information.
