FORT ATKINSON, Wis. – Bedding component supplier VyMaC Corporation announced that it has collaborated with bedding industry leaders Gold Bond Mattress and California-based McRoskey Mattress to resurrect the Ostermoor innerspring brand of American-made mattresses. Two Ostermoor concept beds have made their debut at the Las Vegas Furniture Market July 28 and will be available to a very select, limited number of retailers.

One of the nation’s oldest and most revered mattress brands, Ostermoor draws from its roots, dating back to the 1850s. Deemed “The American Classic,” the Ostermoor name was acquired in 1988 by Standard Mattress Co./Gold Bond Mattress President Robert Naboicheck. Naboicheck partnered with Dave R. Young, CEO of VyMaC Corporation, who is renowned for leading Verlo Mattress Factory Stores, one of America’s most successful made-to-order mattress companies.

Naboicheck and Young have also teamed with San Francisco-based McRoskey Mattress led by Robin McRoskey-Azevedo, president and CEO, to lend expertise as a California manufacturer since 1899.

All three companies will produce Ostermoor mattresses, upholding the same distinctive, early manufacturing techniques, including hand-laid, hand-built upholstery of each mattress with natural cotton and wool fill.

Reenergizing the oldest living testament to traditional mattress techniques is something all three companies were willing to be a part of.

“This is the opportunity for me to take my family’s business and capture the dream of national delivery with the legacy my father created,” shared McRoskey-Azevedo.

Young also embraces the opportunity to bring an American classic back to the surface.

“I’ve always admired the great handmade craftsmanship of the mattress industry of the first 100 years in America (1850-1950),” said VyMaC’s Young. “Even though technology and innovation in this category have come a long way, many of the old manufacturing techniques can be used today to create an exceptionally luxurious bed.”

Young continued, “Today the mattress industry is crowded with commodity products and high-end European imports, but very little in terms of American premium quality, especially at a national level. This is an exciting opportunity for retailers as we bring back this age-old, American-crafted brand, capitalizing on the need for domestic, handmade, natural mattresses.”

Incorporating their collective expertise with independent retailers and national retail chains, the companies will position Ostermoor as the first American-made luxury innerspring mattress, offering challenge to the finest European imports.

“My father, Butch Naboicheck, once had a vision to continue the strong reputation of the Ostermoor brand, one that complemented his own commitment to quality and similar high standards,” said Naboicheck. “I’m proud to engage the legacy he has left behind with a truly distinctive brand that’s a part of American history.”

The Ostermoor Collection will offer appropriately scaled and proportioned innerspring mattresses that bring together natural comfort features of wool, cotton and natural latex working in sustainable natural resources complemented with tried-and-true tradition of double-sided mattresses – a near dinosaur in today’s marketplace. A limited number of retailers will be selected to carry the Ostermoor brand in 2008 and will be supported with nationwide service and distribution. Ostermoor will have manufacturing facilities in California, Connecticut and Wisconsin.
