Minneapolis, MN (Vocus) November 9, 2009 -- Omnetics Connector Corporation, the leading manufacturer of miniature high-rel connectors, announced that their design, production and QA systems have been certified to the ISO 9001:2000 (w/design) & AS9100 Revision B, International Quality System Standard.
The company's entire quality system was audited and certified by Smithers Quality Assessments Inc. (SQA), a leading independent accredited registrar. Smithers is fully accredited both by the Dutch Council for Accreditation (RvA) and the American National Accreditation Body (ANAB) and is a member of the Independent Association of Accredited Registrars.
ISO9001:2000 combines three standards of 9001, 9002 and 9003 into one and focuses specifically on the design and development procedures.
AS9100 was designed to enhance ISO9001 by focusing on the more precise expectations and requirements of the aerospace industry. AS9100 certification is rapidly becoming a minimum requirement for doing business with many aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Aerospace OEM’s maintain high levels of liability for their product standard and failure to correctly handle parts and materials can directly affect product performance.
