LG Mobile Phones Celebrates Their Fourth Year as the Official Title Sponsor of the LG Action Sports Championships

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 24  /PRNewswire/ -- Today LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A., Inc. (LG Mobile Phones) celebrated its commitment to the action sports industry with the announcement of the fourth annual LG Action Sports Championships (LGASC) event.  The 2006 Championships will feature special performances by Action Sports legends Tony Hawk and Mat Hoffman during the LG Demo Mash.  Additionally, both athletes as well as actor/skateboarder Bam Margera will host an event in conjunction with LG and the Make-A-Wish Foundation where kids can spend time with their favorite Action Sports athletes.  A coordinated effort between LG and ASA Events, the highly anticipated Championships will take place Friday, October 27th through Sunday, October 29th at Reunion Arena in Dallas, Texas.
For the second year, LG has partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) to create a memorable event with professional Action Sports athletes, including members of the LG Pro Team and now Tony Hawk, Bam Margera and Mat Hoffman. Approximately twenty children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation(R) of North Texas will have the opportunity to interact with the athletes, try out their equipment, ask questions, get autographs and best of all spend time just hanging out with them.
This year's event will be hosted by Action Sports legends Tony Hawk and Mat Hoffman. They will conduct exclusive performances showcasing their latest and most extreme tricks dubbed the LG Demo Mash. Tony and Mat will perform four gravity defying sessions together on the largest half-pipe in the US on October 28th at 5:00pm and 10:00pm and on October 29th at 3:30pm and 8:30pm.
The LG Action Sports World Tour is a global series of large-scale Action Sports festivals throughout Europe, Asia and USA that feature top pro competitions in skateboarding, BMX and inline skating as well as live music. All of the World Tour events serve to qualify both professional and amateur athletes from the three sports into the season-ending LG Action Sports Championships.

This year's LG Action Sports event will feature the season's world championships for skateboarding vert, aggressive inline skating vert and freestyle BMX in both the half-pipe and street course disciplines. Taking place at Reunion Arena in Dallas, the event will consist of over 170 pro athletes from over 23 countries. Expected to compete are well known athletes such as: Bucky Lasek, Dave Mirra, Bob Burnquist, Jamie Bestwick, Ryan Nyquist, Chad Kagy, Kevin Robinson, John Parker, Simon Tabron, Eito Yasutoko, Takeshi Yasutoko, Fabiola da Silva, Sandro Dias, Pierre Luc Gagnon, Jake Brown and Andy Macdonald.
After four years of rapid growth, the LG Action Sports Championships is quickly becoming one of the most prestigious events in its category with its emphasis on the athletes and companies that comprise the action sports industry. This year's event will feature two hours of national television coverage on CBS as well as a minimum of 24 hours of national television coverage on OLN, Sportsnet NY, InDemand, MTV2, Fuel and Fox Sports Net. The CBS broadcasts will air on Sunday, November 26, from 5:00 - 6:00 PM (EST) immediately following NFL Football and on December 30, from 5:00 - 6:00 PM (EST).
