To date, the site, created by Michael Flora & Associates, has gathered "amazing" tales from cities spanning the entire state -- including the 1,400- acre underground "Hidden City" in Detroit, the house made entirely of glass bottles in Kaleva, Mich., the retired carpenter who is recreating Stonehenge in his Flint, Mich. backyard and a 3,000-person record-breaking team who created the largest snowball, snow angel and snowball fight on Michigan Technological University's campus in Houghton, Mich. -- to highlight just a few.
The site is still actively capturing visitors' amazing Michigan story submissions, and asking readers to rate posted stories and vote for their favorites. Anyone whose submission is deemed suitably "amazing" and has his/her story posted to the site receives a complimentary t-shirt.
"We have learned so much about our great state from the stories we have received to date," said Tom Brzezina, president, Michael Flora & Associates, whose company created and manages the "Because Michigan is Amazing" site. "We encourage everyone who hasn't yet visited the site to check it out, learn from others and share their own unique tales."
