NEW YORK, March 21 /PRNewswire/ -- International talk-radio star and 9- time New York Times best-selling author Dr. Laura Schlessinger is truly "The Comeback Kid." Dr. Laura's top-rated, syndicated talk-radio program, which offers advice to help people with a wide range of personal, work, and familial problems, makes an exciting move from the late night drive to afternoons LIVE on two major Clear Channel Communications radio stations in both San Diego and Sacramento in California.
The big move begins Monday, March 26, 2007, on AM 600 KOGO, San Diego's News and Talk Station where Dr. Laura's program now broadcasts from noon through 3pm PT, Monday through Friday. Since 2003, she had been broadcast on the same station from 6 pm through 9 pm.
Also on Monday, March 26, 2007, Dr. Laura's top ranked program (ranked #4 overall in U.S. talk-radio by Talkers Magazine) will also be heard by listeners in the Sacramento region on KSTE-AM 650 from noon - 3 pm PT, Monday through Friday. Previously on KSTE-AM 650, since 2004, her program aired from 9 pm through midnight.
"I am relieved to be back on daytime if only to demonstrate I'm not a vampire," said Dr. Laura Schlessinger. "I'm also happy to be back daytime so that folks can have the time to call my program before 'family time' in the evenings. I will continue to preach, teach, and nag about morals, values and ethics for both families and individuals," she continued.
"Moving from the late evening drive to the afternoon drive in both San Diego and Sacramento will increase Dr. Laura's audience of listeners five-fold in both markets and that's a big deal, said Geoff Rich, president of Take On The Day, LLC, Dr. Laura Schlessinger's syndicated radio production company.
"In April 2002, the talk radio industry focused on issues and political talk dealing with the aftermath of 9/11 on almost a daily basis and Dr. Laura was still struggling from the backlash of special interest groups," said Michael Harrison, publisher of TALKERS Magazine. "Fast forward to 2006 and 2007 - stations that carry her show or compete against her are noticing a very real surge in her ratings, prompting us to ask: Is Dr. Laura Schlessinger "The Comeback Kid?"
A comprehensive analysis of all of Dr. Laura's syndicated markets (over 200) in the Spring 2006 Arbitron book versus Spring 2005 shows a 21% year- over-year growth in adults 25-54. The leading talk-radio industry magazine, TALKERS Magazine, published a major story about "the triumphant are turn' of talk radio's leading lady" in September of last year.
"I am thrilled and encouraged by the continuing growth and high ratings of my radio program," said Dr. Laura Schlessinger. "The more audience I reach, the more I can help individuals and families with major issues affecting their traditional values, morality and ethics."
Dr. Laura's 21% gain with adults 25-54 year-over-year (+28% men 25-54 and +16% women 25-54) can also be compared to an overall 2.3% decline of audience for ALL talk stations in the top 50 markets in the Spring 2006 Arbitron book compared to the Spring 2005 Arbitron book.
