ROANOKE, Va., March 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Meridium Inc., the leader in asset performance management (APM) software and consulting solutions, today announced plans for a Meridium implementation at Xcel Energy, a major U.S. electricity and natural gas company, with operations in 8 Western and Midwestern states.
Meridium will provide Xcel Energy with software and services to analyze performance data for up to 80 generating units at more than 60 sites in order to help understand the true cost of lost megawatt hours due to generation unavailability, to reduce cost and equipment downtime, to shift work from corrective to preventative maintenance and to improve reliability work processes. Working in conjunction with Xcel Energy, Meridium is also providing consulting services and software training through Xcel Energy's "College of Reliability," an innovative approach to change management in their maintenance and operations organizations.

This major deployment of Meridium's APM solution at Xcel Energy follows a successful pilot implementation at Xcel Energy's Cherokee Station generation plant near Denver, conducted under the guidance of Xcel Energy's Utilities Innovation program, which won the 2006 Edison Institute Award. At the conclusion of the pilot project, Xcel Energy chose Meridium as a solution including modules for:
