"Unlike social networking sites, each MIX is a collection of video clips where users socialize around content, not individual people or profiles, creating combinations of lasting content to share with others. With Lycos MIX, users can create an amalgamation of video content where others participate by viewing, commenting and adding more clips."
With three easy steps, users can create a MIX for free. MIXES can be either public, meaning anyone can add video clips to the MIX playlist, or private, where the MIX owner takes full control over what video content is added. Moderated MIX features also allow anyone to submit videos to the MIX, but the MIX owner has to approve content before it appears. Users can create multiple MIXES, containing multiple video clips, and easily email MIXES to friends, inviting them to participate in the MIX.
Other unique functionality includes a "MIX It" bookmarklet feature, allowing users to quickly and easily add videos from other sites to their MIXES without cutting or pasting URL's. Robust permanent comment and rating system features also allow users to rate MIXES, as opposed to individual pieces of video content.
Both PC and MAC users can access Lycos MIX. Additionally, IE and Windows, as well as Safari and Firefox browsers, all support Lycos MIX.
