BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- AgileDelta(TM), Inc., the leading provider of software for lightning-fast delivery of more content to more locations, today announced that the company's Efficient XML(TM) format was selected by the World Wide Web Consortium as the basis for the global binary XML standard. Efficient XML was selected based on a comprehensive, independent review of binary XML formats, comparing size, speed, and other characteristics for a broad range of online content, services and data.
The W3C's adoption of Efficient XML will dramatically expand the reach of web technologies and online content to a vast and growing set of mobile devices, navigation systems, media players and other connected devices. In addition, it will significantly increase the speed, scalability and throughput of enterprise systems using web technologies, displacing more expensive, proprietary approaches. The net result will be increased interoperability across a vast range of systems using a common set of web standards and protocols.
"AgileDelta has been actively involved with the World Wide Web Consortium in their efforts to define a single binary XML standard", said Rich Rollman, the company's Vice President of Engineering and Product Development. "The selection of Efficient XML as the basis for a global binary XML standard underscores the equal importance of size and speed improvements in extending the reach of rich XML data to a far broader set of applications and devices."
Efficient XML is an extremely compact, high performance alternative for representing content on or off the web. It simultaneously reduces the bandwidth, battery life, processing power and storage required by on-line content and services. Efficient XML documents can be over 100 times smaller and faster, accelerating web applications and creating tremendous opportunities for getting more rich content onto devices such as smart phones and PDAs that are limited by bandwidth, memory, processing power and battery life. Efficient XML can be rapidly added into existing applications using AgileDelta's turn-key web service and web proxy solutions or embedded directly in applications or services using popular, standard XML interfaces,.
