WASHINGTON, DC -- 12/26/07 --
Rebuilding Together, the nation's lead
nonprofit preserving affordable homeownership, honored Sears Holdings
Corporation with the Patty R. Johnson Community Builder Award for 2007.
The award was presented at Rebuilding Together's National Conference in
Long Beach, CA on December 8, 2007. The prestigious award, voted on by
Rebuilding Together's Board of Directors, is presented to the individual or
corporation which best exemplifies dedicated service and leadership to
communities in need.
In May 2007, Rebuilding Together and Sears Holdings Corporation created the
Heroes at Home program to serve U.S. military families and veterans
nationwide. Through in-store campaigns to date Sears has raised 1.3
million dollars for the Heroes at Home program.
"Rebuilding Together will better serve the military community that is in
tremendous need through the Heroes at Home program," stated Gary A.
Officer, President and CEO for Rebuilding Together. "Heroes at Home will
have served more than 100 military families and veterans nationwide this
spring. This is possible only thanks to the support from partners like
Sears Holdings and the generous customers who shop its stores."
Previous Patty R. Johnson Community Builder Award winners include Honeywell
and CEO David Cote; Countrywide Financial and CEO Angelo Mozilo; and The
Home Depot and CEO Robert Nardelli.
