SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Bedwetting should not cause death or seizures. Sadly that has not been the case. Following 61 reported seizures, including two deaths in patients prescribed the drug desmopressin -- DDAVP -- (often used to replace a natural hormone that limits urine production as a way of treating bedwetting), the FDA advised that nasal versions were no longer approved for enuresis treatment. Terrifying news for parents of children prescribed desmopressin.
There is a safe and drug-free solution for the more than 20 million people suffering from enuresis. For 33 years, Farmington Hills, Michigan- headquartered Enuresis Treatment Center (ETC) has been a global leader successfully treating thousands of people from around the world. They not only permanently end bedwetting with their treatment, they guarantee its results. Doctors prescribing drugs can't make the same promise.
Doctors tell parents that their child will outgrow bedwetting, however, many don't. In every classroom 3 to 4 children, and 1 in 50 teenagers still wet the bed. In the US there is an estimated 280,000 adults who haven't outgrown it.
Bedwetting is actually caused by deep sleep according to Barbara Moore, who founded ETC after searching the globe for a treatment that worked for her own daughter's bedwetting. Moore revealed, "99% of our bedwetting cases stem from the root cause: an inherited deep-sleep disorder. The brain sleeps so deeply that when signaled by the bladder that it's full, the brain cannot respond." "No part of our treatment involves the use of drugs, we treat the root cause of the problem, and do not mask it with medication," added Moore.
Bedwetters suffer more then their parents know. According to Dr. Lyle Danuloff, Clinical Psychologist at the ETC, "Embarrassment often leads to silence. Bedwetters often live with feelings of fear of discovery, shame, low self-esteem, and feeling different."
"Bedwetting is not anyone's fault, it is the deep sleep that prevents the brain from responding. Less than 1% of bedwetting cases are caused by a physical problem. Therefore, medical approaches do not end bedwetting," states Dr. Danuloff.
