BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Guppy Games, award-winning developer and publisher of mobile games, announced today that it is being acquired by Web 2.0 company NVLsoft to create mobile and online social community applications. The acquisition is part of NVLsoft's global distribution strategy of its line of innovative technologies. Since 2004, NVLsoft has developed and published cutting-edge Web 2.0 applications for major social networks in Korea and is a subsidiary of IS Hightech Group, a public company traded in Korean Stock Exchange Market (KOSDAQ). With this acquisition, NVLsoft will have been supported by three international subsidiaries in China, Japan and US.
Founded in 2005 by successful Seattle entrepreneur Alex Choe, Guppy Games established its niche as a mobile publisher concentrating on bringing best-of-breed mobile games from South Korea and adapting them for North and South American markets. In the past three years, Guppy Games has launched 12 titles on more than 20 carriers in the US and worldwide.
"We see Guppy Games as the ideal partner to assist us in breaking into the US online and mobile market as they are very familiar with adapting Korean content for US audiences. We are confident that together we can establish a presence in the US as a premier developer of customizable applications for top social communities," says Jiwon Park, NVLsoft President and CEO.
"This is a very exciting opportunity for us to apply our knowledge and experience to the social networking business and to leverage NVLsoft's advanced social network technologies into new tools that allow members of online and mobile communities to express themselves creatively. They have an amazing product and I am thrilled to work with them to bring it to the US," said Alex Choe, President and CEO of Guppy Games.
"I'm very confident that Guppy Games' merger with NVLsoft will create outstanding synergy for both companies as they create the best social networking experience for customers hungry for new customization applications to express themselves." said Ike Lee, CEO of LTC and Venture Partner, of Ignition Partners. Ike advised in the strategic planning of this acquisition.
The US-based Guppy Games will expand their staff to continue developing and publishing mobile games while launching a new business group that will develop social applications based on NVLsoft's technology. Under the terms of the agreement, Guppy Games' headquarters will remain in Seattle, Washington.
