TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Pediatric practices around the country -- from Idaho to New Jersey -- have recently selected Intergy EHR by Sage as their Electronic Health Records (EHR) solution. According to representatives from each practice, the solution set provides essential benefits especially geared toward a pediatric practice.
Pediatric practices recently signed onto Intergy EHR by Sage as their Electronic Health Records system include:
-- Brookville Pediatrics and Internal Medicine of Grand Rapids, Michigan
-- Coeur d' Alene Pediatrics of Coeur d' Alene, Idaho
-- Lakeside Pediatrics of Couer d' Alene, Idaho
-- Somerset Pediatric Group of Branchburg, New Jersey
"We have been with The Medical Manager by Sage since 1988," said Nancy VandenBerg of Brookville Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. "We are glad to stay a customer of Sage Software Healthcare."
Holly Parlavecchio, chief administrator for Somerset Pediatric Group, also a long-time customer of Sage Software, agreed that reliability tops her list in selecting a software provider.
"[Sage Software] is reliable, and that to me is of utmost importance," she said.
Like VandenBerg and Parlavecchio, others echoed similar sentiments regarding the reliability of the company which they have come to trust and rely on as their software provider. Moreover, many indicated the unique functionality of Intergy which makes it an ideal fit in a pediatric environment.
"The immunization component [of Intergy] allows for easy entry of data," said Connie Moering of Couer d' Alene Pediatrics. "And the correspondence program allows for the practitioner to give data such as school reports, physical exams and follow-up directions directly to the patient or family at the push of a button."
Shawna Smith of Lakeside Pediatrics replaced the practice's NextGen system with Intergy EHR by Sage largely due to functionality, she said.
"We were very limited to what we could do with the system," she said. "But Sage [Software] has a great product. The EHR allows providers to create as many forms as they need to enhance workflow for their day. And it reduces the potential for errors in billing because you can program codes and create macros."
Additional functionalities such as growth charts and alerts features make Intergy by Sage well-suited for the pediatric environment, including:
-- Immunization decision support
-- Growth tracking, including accommodating corrections for preterm birth
and graphical representation of data
-- Percentile calculations, including BMI
-- ePrescribing, expressed in both volume and/or mass of the drug
-- Newborn registration without Social Security number
-- Allows connection of prenatal data (such as from a prenatal
ultrasound) with postnatal data
-- Phone triage forms library incorporates a practice's protocols and
standing orders.
"When we began our search for a new system," Smith added, "we were looking for a solid company that we could count on to be up and running at all times. What's more, we wanted to be able to create our own unique templates to reduce documentation time and create good overall workflow for our providers."
Sage Software leadership says that while pediatrics isn't their only specialty, it is one in which they have invested because they appreciate the extensive needs of pediatric groups.
"The immunizations, the records, the school paperwork required -- it all creates a particularly cumbersome load of administrative overhead for pediatric groups," said Sage Software Healthcare SVP of Marketing Sharon Howard. "We value and appreciate our pediatric partners -- as we do all of our customers -- and we look at their particular needs and strive to alleviate their pain points."
According to Moering, Sage Software has succeeded in recognizing and addressing those needs. "Intergy is well suited for the busy practice one often sees in the field of pediatrics," she said. "The different ways you can enter data into the chart allows our individual practitioners to optimize their time. This allows for maximum patient load without over-taxing the office staff and minus the extra time and expense of a consultant to figure out workflow."
