RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Not everyone Lulus and has a digital copy of their novel, company handbook or yearbook waiting to be updated or published at the hit of a button. If you only have hard copies, there is now a solution to digitize bound books. Lulu.com's new partnership with Kirtas Technologies creates a way for you to give your rare or personal book collection a new life.
Lulu Vintage Publishing (http://www.lulu.com/services/vintagepublishing) has partnered with Kirtas Technologies to allow you to send in a hard copy of your original content and have it formatted into a retouched, high-resolution, digital version. With a variety of packages to choose from starting at $125.00, Lulu Vintage Publishing can process books as large as 700 pages with an 11x14 trim size. Once the file is created you can either have it uploaded to your Lulu account or sent back to you as a CD which you can use to publish on Lulu. Just think what a great gift a revitalized version of the family history would make!
"This is a great opportunity for people to preserve their personal history and unique collections while sharing them with past, present and future generations," said Kirtas Technologies CEO and Founder Lotfi Belkhir. "We have been helping great institutions and universities around the world bring their rare, private collections to the Internet. Now we are enabling individuals around the world to bring their personal collections to life through Lulu Vintage Publishing service."
If you want to share your newly revitalized content with the world, you can also add it to the Lulu Global Marketplace. Your file will have a full optical character recognition (OCR) text search which will allow others to find your content on search engines.
"Lulu.com is thrilled to have Kirtas Technologies as a partner," said Lulu.com Founder and CEO Bob Young. "This is just another way that we are empowering our customers. We are not simply focusing on content that's already digitized but turning other forms of print into digital content, giving our users even more opportunities to publish their original works. It's another way to approach user-generated content that was created before the advent of the Internet and bring it into Web 2.0."
About Kirtas Technologies (http://www.kirtastech.com)/ Kirtas Technologies was founded in 2001 with the vision of bringing to the digital realm the massive knowledge sitting on library shelves, government archives and corporate storerooms.
