SEATTLE, WA -- 12/04/07 --
Yapta, Inc. (
www.yapta.com), an online travel
shopping service that tracks airline ticket pricing for leisure and
business travelers, today announced compatibility with the
Mozilla Firefox Web
browser, extending Yapta's unique "trip-tagging" capability to millions of
additional online travel planners.
According to the latest data from W3Counter,
Firefox is the second most popular Web browser behind Microsoft's Internet
Explorer, capturing more than 27 percent share of the total Web browser
market. Mozilla estimates that currently there are at least 125 million
Firefox users worldwide. Since Yapta's launch in late May 2007, support for
the award-winning browser has been the feature most heavily requested by
Yapta users.
"The majority of email feedback we have received has either thanked us for
the service or requested Yapta as a Firefox add-on," said Tom Romary, CEO
of Yapta. "We have obviously listened and are happy to be bringing a valued
travel tool to a browser that is rapidly growing in popularity."
The Firefox browser add-on is currently available for download at Yapta.com
or at the Firefox Add-ons website, addons.mozilla.org. Online travel planners use
Yapta's browser add-on to track airfares by "tagging" (or "bookmarking")
the exact flight itineraries that they want while searching on airline
websites. Once a trip is tagged, all key flight information -- including
price, airline and travel dates -- is automatically stored on the
traveler's "My Trips" page at Yapta.com and users are subsequently notified
via email when prices drop and when they are eligible for a travel voucher
or refund from their airline.
The release of the Firefox browser add-on is a significant follow-up to
other recently released features. In recent weeks, Yapta has introduced a
series of innovative features, including an airfare comparison shopping
tool and the ability to forward airline confirmation emails directly to
flights@yapta.com to begin price tracking and refund alerts. To date, Yapta
users have "tagged" more than $200 million worth of flight itineraries,
which were stored conveniently in their personal "My Trips" list. Yapta
subsequently delivered over $10 million in potential savings to more than
175,000 travelers and has been named one of this year's 50 Best Websites by
TIME magazine.
About Yapta, Inc.
Yapta, Inc. was founded in January 2006 with the mission to assure
consumers that they get the most value out of their trip planning and pay the lowest possible
price for airline tickets. Yapta's online service monitors airfare price
volatility and alerts consumers when the price on "tagged" flights
decreases. Bringing to light pro-consumer "guaranteed airfare rules"
offered by many airlines, the service helps air travelers obtain travel
vouchers -- and in some cases, cash refunds -- when the price decreases on
tickets that have already been purchased. Yapta also enables travelers to
keep all of their flight information in one place online. For more
