WASHINGTON, Nov. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued the following statement after a White House ceremony today honoring former Vice President Al Gore and other American winners of the Nobel Prize:
"Vice President Al Gore, along with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, has awakened the world, and particularly young people, to the enormous and looming threat of the climate crisis and the need for immediate action.
"Congress is now moving forward with historic energy legislation that will reduce our dependence on foreign fuels and promote energy efficiency. We have made significant progress toward completing this package and hope to have a final agreement next week. This energy package will lay the groundwork for the Congress to move forward next year with comprehensive action to address climate change. It is also incumbent on the Bush Administration, after years of resistance, to become a leader in the global effort to reduce climate change. We owe it to our children and to the future to act now.
"I again congratulate Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on their winning the Nobel Peace Prize, which is a culmination of decades of dedication and perseverance. Just as Al Gore tirelessly fought to change the global warming debate, Congress must now act to change America's energy policy and begin to halt climate change."

when the topic of global warming comes up people say "oh well i guess i can leave that up to other people." "then we will be fine." you just wait until this is earth becomes a giant hot waste dump. Then you are going to regret it. there are so many ways out there to prevent all of this. Fish are dieing due to people polluting rivers, streams, and oceans. the air as we know it is getting poisoned. asia is suffering the "Asia's brown cloud" they have to wear a mask when they go out to get the mail. Scientist say that it will soon get to america and the world. Glaciers are melting and polar bears are beocoming exstinct. acid rain is now an issue. all the dirty air goes up into the sky and pollutes the rain. I also as well congratulate Al Gore. He is really here to fight this conflict. There are just to many issues to go on. I could go on but it would take up the whole page. We need to fight this and make a lot of it go away. yes, there is always going to be pollution but i encourage you to just make at least a little or a lot go away. no, not one person can do it, but i am sure that the whole world can pitch in. not just a few people.
