CLARKSTON, Mich., Nov. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Everest Catholic High School will soon be added to the spacious campus of Everest Academy and will offer families a new option for gender-specific Catholic education in North Oakland County.
Founded in 1991, Everest Academy is a private, independent Catholic School offering co-ed education for preschool through grade 2, and gender-specific education for grades 3 to 8. In fall 2008, Everest will offer a seamless path of education from preschool through high school on one campus.
Everest develops the whole child with a program of Integral Formation(SM) a method of education developed by the Legionaries of Christ. Integral Formation is a four pillar model which develops academic excellence, spiritual formation, character development and apostolic service to the community. Everest's gender-specific environment cultivates self esteem and quickly builds leadership abilities.
Public awareness has been growing nationwide about the advantages of gender-specific education (Detroit News front page, Nov. 13, 2007). Principal Richard Copland notes that Everest students thrive in the gender-based education model. "At Everest, boys and girls are encouraged to develop their unique strengths to achieve their full potential. Our program takes into account different learning styles, environment and the positive role models that students need to show them the path to success."
Everest Catholic High School will use a proven college preparatory curriculum which is in place and accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement at three sister schools in the United States. In October, all three schools were awarded placement in 'The Top 50 Catholic Schools' by Catholic High School Honor Roll. The award was based upon academic excellence, Catholic identity, and civic education.
Director of Formation, Father Daniel Pajerski, LC, notes that "Our Catholic identity is at the heart of Everest. Our students aspire to greatness. We help them to see that greatness lies in imitating Christ." With eight religious on site, Everest is able to offer students a rich Catholic sacramental life including daily communion service, the availability of daily Mass, monthly spiritual guidance and the opportunity for frequent confession.
Everest is located north of Detroit on a beautiful 90-acre campus just off the I-75 exit at Sashabaw Road.
