NEW YORK, NY -- 10/23/07 --
"
Who
Wants To Be A Millionaire," (
www.millionairetv.com) with host
Meredith Vieira, will celebrate a
major milestone this November with a week-long celebration of the 1,000th
episode of the syndicated game show, airing November 5 - 9. "Millionaire"
continues to offer the biggest prize opportunity of any syndicated game
show, with a potential million-dollar payout to any contestant who can
correctly answer 15 questions. Throughout the span of 1,000 episodes, over
1,800 contestants have won a combined total of more than $42,000,000!
"I am incredibly honored to be associated with a show like 'Who Wants To Be
A Millionaire,'" said host Meredith Vieira. "It's a show that people of
all generations can enjoy. Every day we have the opportunity to make a
difference in people's lives by giving them life-changing amounts of
money," she added. "I extend heartfelt congratulations to the entire
'Millionaire' family for producing 1,000 episodes of quality entertainment
-- 1,000 shows of which we can all be proud."
To help celebrate the 1,000th episode, home viewers will have a chance to
win some "Millionaire" money of their own, in "Millionaire's Grand Giveaway
Sweepstakes." 100 lucky viewers will win $1,000 each and a total of
$100,000 will be handed out during the week. Home viewers who
pre-registered at www.millionairetv.com throughout the month of September
should tune-in November 5 - 9 to see if their name is announced.
For the first time in the game show's history, contestants for the week
will be able to bypass the first five questions (valued at $100 - $1,000)
and will be only 10 questions away from winning one million dollars! In
honor of the 1,000th episode, contestants will be guaranteed to win at
least $1,000 in the hot seat.
