The holiday season is a time of joy for most people, but for thousands of domestic violence victims, it is a particularly difficult time as the incidences of domestic violence increase during the holidays.
Doorways for Women and Families is a nonprofit, tax exempt organization that has provided safe shelter to abused, homeless, or at-risk women and families for over 25 years. Doorways helps clients develop the tools and resources necessary to reclaim their self-sufficiency. In Northern Virginia, Doorways provides an Emergency Family Shelter, Transitional Housing Program, Domestic Violence Safehouse Shelter, support groups, therapeutic services, community outreach and education, court advocacy, children's services, and a 24/7 domestic violence hotline.
