FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines and the Something mAAgic Foundation are partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to send children on a once-in-a-lifetime dream trip to Orlando, Fla. Twenty courageous wish kids have been selected to participate in American Airlines 11th annual WishFlight on Friday, Nov. 10.
WishFlight, Something mAAgic's annual marquee event, sends children with life-threatening medical conditions and their families to Florida for a seven- day retreat at Give Kids The World Village(R) and various Orlando attractions.
As the wish children depart their home cities, they begin their vacation with a bon voyage event hosted by American Airlines, American Eagle and Something mAAgic volunteers. Festivities at the airport terminals include decorations, cheering volunteers and cake for all departing passengers. There are also festivities upon the wish kids' arrival in Orlando as the children and their families begin their magical vacation.
"The goal of all who are involved with WishFlight is to ensure that the children's experience is truly a dream come true," said Chandra Luce, President of the Something mAAgic Foundation. "We are excited to be giving wings to the children and their families with this program and look forward to celebrating our 11th annual event as the best WishFlight yet."
During their stay at Give Kids The World Village, each child and wish family enjoy their own villa and inclusive meals. The village's unique play areas cater to children, offering attractions such as a wheelchair-friendly carousel, an ice cream palace and a gingerbread house restaurant. Several years ago, American Airlines built the Park of Dreams, an interactive water park designed for these children at Give Kids The World.
