LOS ANGELES, Aug. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The NTI Group, Inc. (NTI) announced today that it has been appointed to the U.S. Conference of Mayors' (USCM) Steering Committee. NTI enables government leaders and school officials to send time-sensitive mass notifications to their constituents to provide timely direction and updates in their own voice and via text messages using the Connect-ED(R), Connect-CTY(R), Connect-GOV(R), or Connect-MIL(R) service.
"I am very pleased to have Brendan Cotter of NTI join The U.S. Conference of Mayors Business Council Steering Committee and am confident that his expertise will be an invaluable asset," said Tom Cochran, USCM executive director.
The USCM Business Council Steering Committee consists of representatives from the business community who are members of the Mayors Business Council. The steering committee meets on an ad hoc basis to provide input and guidance to the Conference on a variety of issues related to the MBC. Business Council Steering Committee Co-Chairs are selected by a nominating group from the steering committee on an annual basis. To be eligible for selection as a Co-Chair of the Mayor's Business Council Steering Committee, a business council member must first serve on the Council's Steering Committee.
"One of the main objectives of the business council is to get businesses to come together with government to create a relationship that will undoubtedly enhance the quality of life for Americans and strengthen our nation," said Douglas H. Palmer, USCM president and mayor of Trenton, New Jersey. "Having the ability to notify residents quickly in an emergency situation is critical. I have experienced firsthand the benefit of being able to do so with NTI's Connect-CTY service. Rapid, accurate updates are an important part of our ability to care for our community members."
The Connect-CTY communication system enables community officials to send and track personalized voice messages in any language to tens of thousands of residents, businesses, and local officials in just minutes. To ensure that important messages and emergency response information reach recipients quickly no matter what their preferred method of communication is, the Connect-CTY service sends voice and text messages through four different modes of communication:
-- Voice messages to home phones, work phones, cell phones, and even
emails
-- Text messages to cell phones, PDAs and other text-based devices
-- Written messages to e-mail accounts
-- Messages to TTY/TDD receiving devices for the hearing impaired
"Our goal is very similar to that of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. We are dedicated to providing the best possible constituency care available," Brendan M. Cotter, Connect-CTY managing director said. "I am honored to become a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Steering Committee and look forward to being a part of an organization that is committed to strengthening the relationship and communication between government and citizens across the country."
