BOSTON, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuity Software(TM), a leading provider of Disaster Recovery Management (DRM) solutions, today announced that it will discuss "How to Avoid Data Protection Disasters" during a live Webcast taking place on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 12:00 p.m. EDT.

During the 45 minute presentation, Continuity Software founder and CEO, Gil Hecht, will outline how a DRM solution can help enterprise IT organizations to meet their data protection and business continuity goals by:
-- Ensuring all production configuration changes are successfully replicated to the remote hot site (i.e., change management monitoring)
-- Automatically scanning storage, databases, servers, and replication configurations to detect inconsistencies, vulnerabilities, and threats to recoverability
-- Eliminating the need to conduct expensive, labor-intensive disaster recovery (DR) testing and manual audits
"Datacenters around the world have deployed the most advanced and trusted technologies, such as EMC SRDF and various geo-clustering solutions, to ensure disaster recoverability and business continuity. However, even those that deploy these technologies and test constantly still find it a tremendous challenge to ensure a remote hot site is capable of resuming operations in the event of a disaster," said Hecht. "A Disaster Recovery Management solution detects risks and vulnerabilities long before a disaster strikes. In addition, it can provide recommendations to help organizations fully optimize existing data resources, reduce waste, and dramatically improve performance."
All registrants for the Webcast will be among the first to receive a copy of a Continuity Software sponsored white paper written by industry analyst and research firm, IDC, entitled, "Disaster Recovery Management: An Emerging Approach for Avoiding Data Protection Disasters." In the white paper, IDC reveals that DR and business continuity capabilities have become a top priority for organizations of all sizes due to the increasing reliance on IT for all business operations, as well as the need to meet compliance regulations that order the retention and protection of data. However, despite the increased focus and spending on DR solutions, organizations are still facing challenges in building and maintaining effective DR operations.
"Despite the growing awareness of the need to protect corporate critical business processes and data against loss due to disasters, and the associated increase in resources allocated to meet the challenge, organizations are still facing obstacles in making sure that their DR objectives will be met," said Dan Yachin, research director, IDC EMEA Emerging Technologies. "The fact is, today most DR strategies will not work when put to the test. Enterprise data remains inadequately protected."
Yachin added, "IDC believes that given the highly dynamic nature of enterprise data centers, in which production configuration changes occur constantly and data is being replicated to remote DR sites on a regular basis, an automated approach for identifying data protection gaps is now required."
