NEW YORK, NY -- 07/17/07 -- WatchIndia, an ethnic internet TV company, is set to storm the 3.5 million members of the Indian community living in the U.S. and Canada. The Web site announced the launch of its suite of live Indian channels and video-on-demand content featuring the best of Indian TV and entertainment -- breaking news, hit Indian TV serials, Bollywood movies, music, entertainment and the latest sports and cricket events.

"The Indian Diaspora is currently one of the largest populations of expatriates in the U.S., and Indian news, sports and entertainment are in enormous demand within this population," said Tripti Singh, U.S. spokesperson for WatchIndia. "WatchIndia allows ethnic communities, wherever they are, to access and view TV programming live as broadcasted real-time in India, giving the Indian Diaspora a way to connect with family at home."

WatchIndia offers Indians a way to not only get the latest news, but also stay up to date with culture, entertainment, music and sports -- keeping them involved with life back home in a way a phone call or an ethnic newspaper subscription never could.

WatchIndia's content includes a breadth of live and video-on-demand entertainment and a collection of the top Indian media outlets, spanning news, sports, music, movies, religion and pop culture. Content includes programs such as Hindi movies, Punjabi series, Indian pop culture, gurus and more.

"We have truly amassed an outstanding collection representing the best of Indian TV. WatchIndia has everything from Indian soap stars to spiritual gurus to Bollywood blockbusters," said Singh. "This is the first time rich and encompassing Indian TV channels are available live to the U.S. Indian Diaspora. We will be continuing to add even more premium channels, expanding our already phenomenal selection of content."

Premiere channels exclusive to WatchIndia.com include Times Now News, which features twenty-four hour live breaking news, as well as current social, political and economic developments, and Zoom, the number one music and entertainment channel in India. India's leading spiritual religious channel, Aastha TV, is available for the first time on an IPTV platform, both live and on-demand.

Zee Telefilms, the largest television network in India, provides WatchIndia with the best of the Zee channels. The latest shows and specials are available on Zee TV, featuring top entertainment reflecting Indian culture and beliefs, while Zee Sports, the leading sports channel, offers the latest Indian cricket, football and more.

Every year more films are made in India than in the U.S., and Bollywood's fans seem insatiable. WatchIndia's India Online Movie Channel provides the best of Bollywood movies, both new-releases as well as a library of classics. The web portal allows users to watch any of its movies on-demand without additional charges. More movies are being added every week so users can get the best of the Bollywood movies direct to their computers and TV sets at home.

For the first time, there is no need stay up until 3am to watch the cricket match or football game. The WatchIndia library allows users to view past programming, similar to a PVR (personal video recorder), on-demand for up to 2 weeks for all 6 channels for no additional fee.

WatchIndia provides video-on-demand and television-quality video to users through the internet at 500Kbps and 1 Mbps. The Internet TV platform easily allows viewers to connect a PC to a TV set and enjoy Indian television just like in their home country.

Harnessing cutting-edge technology to offer easy, inexpensive access, and aiming to provide entertainment to a niche market, WatchIndia is at the forefront of the online television experience.
