LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Polar, the leader in heart rate monitoring and fitness assessment technology, today announced the nation- wide availability of its most intelligent cycling products in the company's 30-year history -- the new CS400, the most accurate computer on the market today and the CS600 w/ Power, the most complete power measurement system at an affordable price.
For the first time, advanced power measurement and training will be accessible to both elite and everyday cyclists with the new CS600 w/ Power. In addition, CS600 w/ Power measures cycling efficiency, a cutting-edge metric only available in sports performance labs up to this point. Coupled with the CS400, both products deliver an unprecedented amount of data that details body performance, technique and external environment, helping cyclists get the most out of their training and efficiently reach their performance and fitness goals.
"Polar spent four years developing the CS600 w/ Power, including testing with six pro cycling teams during the 2006 Tour de France. This level of dedication has made Polar's CS600 w/ Power the most innovative cycling system to date, providing cyclists with the training intelligence they need to reach their goals," said Jeff Padovan, President of Polar. "The CS600 w/ Power and the CS400 are a culmination of Polar's long-time relationship with the cycling community and its commitment to innovation."
CS600 w/ Power Cycling Computer
The CS600 w/ Power enables cyclists to train like professionals and reach their goals with the most in-depth metrics available. Including all the features of the CS400, the CS600 w/ Power features a new, powerful 2.4 GHz transmission signal for disturbance-free training. The new Power Output Sensor(TM) W.I.N.D., which measures power through chain tension, delivers a wealth of data, including power output, pedaling index, and Left/Right pedaling distribution. CS600 w/ Power does not require calibration or a dedicated hub or crank set, and can be used with any wheel set. This design makes for a highly flexible and easy to install solution, ready right out of the box.
The CS600 w/ Power also measures cycling efficiency, which tracks how much energy output on the bike translates into forward momentum. This unprecedented technology offers a professional-level training and performance benchmark to help cyclists pinpoint areas for improvement and increase overall performance and fitness.
The CS600 w/ Power and CS400 both work seamlessly with the Polar ProTrainer 5(TM) Software, a program that allows cyclists to create personalized workouts, wirelessly upload them to the cycling computer, and then review post-ride data to track progress and compare against goals.
The CS600 w/ Power retails for approximately $699.95, and the CS600 for approximately $419.95. Both are now available in stores and online at http://www.polarusa.com/. High resolution images of the new products and screen shots of the software are available upon request.
CS400 Cycling Computer
The CS400 offers cyclists an efficient tool to precisely plan, monitor and analyze performance and progress -- both on the bike and the PC. With a stronger, coded 5 kHz transmission signal and wireless speed and cadence sensors, the CS400 enables highly accurate transmission of speed, cadence, distance and heart data, all displayed on a big screen.
New features include caloric expenditure in total or calories per hour, incline measurement displayed as a percent grade and an altimeter that includes total ascent and descent. Additionally, the CS400 allows for training by heart rate or cadence zones to create a targeted and efficient training experience.
The CS400 is available in stores and online at http://www.polarusa.com/ for approximately $339.95.
