ATLANTA, GA -- 06/24/07 --
Atlanta-based professional services and
technology development company Roundbox Global has announced the official
launch of the ReactorCMS Learning Object Repository. ReactorCMS(TM) differs
from other content management systems in that it extends traditional data
storage and file management to include a dynamic awareness of collaborative
potential and content relevance based on extensive metadata analysis across
the entire community of contributors and learning objects.
The ReactorCMS Learning Object Repository is standards-based and has been
built using enterprise class Java technologies to ensure both
high-throughput and high-availability while seamlessly integrating into the
technology portfolio of adopting organizations. Users benefit from a
comprehensive object management system which includes features such as
library services, collaboration, and personalization. All content within
the system is dynamically aligned to state standards, ensuring that
resources are contributed and validated by the community according to
specific implementation preferences. Communities are created based on
contributor interests, user profiles, and relevant associative information
-- either expressed by the user population, or identified through latent
semantic search and internal application intelligence.
"Traditional content management systems impose a top-down approach to
object storage, requiring contributors to have local knowledge of object
data in order to work effectively. We consider this methodology to be
entirely restrictive, and in an effort to reduce the barriers to
contribution we have created a product that will enable effective
participation by authors, educators, publishers or institutions; equally
and effectively," said Justin Beals, Roundbox Global CEO.
ReactorCMS(TM) has been designed to support three distinct audience and
implementation models:
The educator-direct implementation is designed to work in a Software as a
Service (SaaS) model in which educators and instructors can create and/or
access learning objects according to established permissions. This
implementation is centrally managed through the Roundbox Global facilities
and is available at no cost. ReactorCMS(TM) will allow educators to create
and align their objects to state standards, providing additional access to
an extensive assortment of community content with little or no knowledge of
how other users are meta-tagging their contributions.
The institution-direct model can be deployed in any K-12 , higher
education, or corporate environment as required. This implementation can
be delivered in the SaaS model, or deployed as a local on-premise solution.
The flexibility of an on-premise solution offers additional integration
opportunities into the customer's learning technology environment. This
implementation supports repository federation -- enabling a local
repository of institution-controlled and maintained objects, while offering
the same access to learning content as defined in the educator-direct
model.
The publisher-direct model has been designed -- from foundation components,
to the end user experience to serve as a key asset in any publisher's
technology portfolio. ReactorCMS(TM) has been developed with foremost
consideration of integration into the fabric of a publisher's heterogeneous
architecture -- leveraging the components that have been invested, rather
than requiring a certain toolset to ensure interoperability.
