successfully launched a new and improved eCommerce website for
California-based RugsExpress.com, located at
www.RugsExpress.com.
The new and improved eCommerce website replaces the previous eCommerce
website at the same URL of www.rugsexpress.com. Port City Web created a
new website design, implemented and customized the BTO version of the
ProductCart shopping cart software, and now hosts the eCommerce website at
Port City Web's hosting facility in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. "Every
aspect of the project was done in-house by Port City Web employees, and we
continue to provide hosting and online marketing for RugsExpress.com,"
noted Erik Crago, President & CEO of Port City Web, LLC. Some of the new
and improved features include an advanced search engine that allows
customers to search by style, color, shape, fiber or size. "Allowing
customers to quickly find what they are looking for is key to the success of
the user experience, and increases sales for RugsExpress.com," said Crago.
In addition to the advanced search functionality, customers can browse by
brand, style, shape, best sellers, new arrivals, clearance and specials.
"Just like in the store, customers like to search or browse in their own
way, so we wanted to make sure the website allowed them to do that," said
Gary Semerjian, Manager of RugsExpress.com. "Port City Web did a great job
of taking our vision and making it work online. As a result, adding or
removing new products is very easy, and sales have increased by 2 to 3
times over our last eCommerce website from some other web development
company," noted Semerjian.
Port City Web also implemented new tools, in addition to ones that come
with ProductCart, to administer and manage customer orders. The objective
is to improve the customer experience through the use of technology, such
as automatic notification of order shipments, and allowing customers to log
in and view their order details and status. Customers can also log in now,
or in the future, and see previous orders, and re-order rugs.
RugsExpress.com customer service representatives and store staff also have
access to this information to help customers who would prefer to place
orders by phone, or to help customers calling in to check on their order
status. Security access controls also allow for RugsExpress.com to keep
sensitive customer information confidential, even blocking certain
information from staff who do not need access to it. "While we trust our
employees, there's no need for them to have access to the customer credit
card information, so we do not keep that information on file," notes
Semerjian. "It's part of our overall commitment to security and customer
privacy, which includes limits on access to data from even our top level
staff, and daily 3rd party security audits," said Semerjian.
