NAPA, Calif., June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sterling Vineyards(R), the landmark Napa Valley winery, announced the fifth annual outdoor summer screen series to benefit the Stars & Vines Fund with the Community Foundation of the Napa Valley. Through the generosity of co-sponsor NBC Universal and with help from noted San Francisco Chronicle Film Critic Mick LaSalle, the 2007 Sterling Silver Screen Series will feature classic titles in a variety of genres from the Universal archives.
LaSalle will help kick off the popular outdoor screenings on July 14 with a personal introduction to the film Design for Living; a 1933 comedy/romance in which Miriam Hopkins finds herself in love with both Gary Cooper and Fredric March. Sterling Silver Screenings will continue with The Sting on August 4, The Palm Beach Story on August 25 and conclude with Rear Window on September 8.
Each screening offers wine tasting, a variety of concessions and festival seating on the Sterling Vineyard Meadow at Sterling Vineyards, 1111 Dunaweal Lane in Calistoga. The grounds open at 7:00 pm and guests are encouraged to arrive early, dress in warm layers and bring blankets or low backed beach chairs to sit on. A pre-show of classic cartoons, followed by the feature presentation, begins at dusk. Ticket sales are $10 for adults and $5 for children (16 and under). BBQ dinners will also be available for $10, along with other movie snacks. More information is available at http://www.sterlingvineyards.com/, or by calling (877)-737-3788.
"Sterling enjoys a long-time affinity for the cinematic arts as a sponsor of the National Film Preservation Foundation as well as various film festivals throughout the country," said Sterling Vice President of Winemaking Mike Westrick. "Our summer film series provides a little Universal star gazing right in our own vineyards. Join us for some great classic pairings of wine and film, and support Napa County charities through our Stars & Vines fund."
All proceeds from ticket sales and a percentage of concession sales benefit the non-profit Stars & Vines Fund. Founded by Sterling Vineyards with the Community Foundation of Napa Valley (CFNV), the Stars & Vines Fund was established to help support various needs of the local community. Past proceeds from Sterling Silver Screenings have assisted the Calistoga Family Center, the St. Helena Family Center, the Family Economic Success Program and the Calistoga Farmworker Camp.
The Community Foundation of the Napa Valley is a non-profit organization that benefits many local charitable causes in need of funds. Through the Foundation, individuals, families and corporations can donate funds in trust to support the well being of all Napa County residents now and in the future.
