ORLANDO, Fla., June 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. , continued its remarkable growth by announcing the arrival of its 2,000th flight attendant, Pamela Long, as one of its newest Crew Members. AirTran Airways had fewer than 1,000 flight attendants just five years ago in 2002, but new routes and larger planes have necessitated the increase in flight attendant ranks.
Long, who currently resides in Lawrenceville, GA, has "always wanted to be a flight attendant. I wanted to work for AirTran Airways because I traveled a lot and they provided good service and convenient flights." Now that she works for the company, Long feels even more strongly about her desire to work for AirTran Airways. "I think it's a terrific airline with great opportunities. My fellow Crew Members are extremely helpful, and are always willing to guide me through things. That type of support has really built up my confidence level, knowing they'll be there to back me up." Not surprisingly, AirTran Airways has experienced decreasing flight attendant attrition rates during this expansion, but Long doesn't plan on leaving anytime soon. "I want this to be my last job."
"This is a tremendous milestone for AirTran Airways, and certainly speaks to the phenomenal growth of the company," said Susan Manfredi, AirTran Airways' vice president of inflight service. "We are proud to have Pamela on board and look forward to continuing our tradition of providing consistently excellent service to our loyal customers."
AirTran Airways, a Fortune 1000 company and one of America's largest low- fare airlines with more than 8,600 friendly, professional Crew Members, operates more than 700 daily flights to 56 destinations.
