CAMBRIDGE, England, June 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Asbestos solutions provider Thames Laboratories has published a newly
updated 24-page report to help property owners and managers understand the
basics of asbestos management and their legal requirements under the Control
of Asbestos Regulations (CAR)2006.
The publication - Managing Asbestos: report for property owner and
managers - covers the historical usage and processing of asbestos, asbestos
production (including sprayed asbestos, thermal insulation, asbestos
insulating board, and asbestos cement), asbestos hazards (including
asbestosis, mesothelioma and pleural plaques), and the implications of
asbestos legislation.
The free-to-download report contains new information regarding duty
holders responsibilities in light of the European Asbestos Worker Protection
Directive (AWPD). This includes:
- Duty to Manage - what do the new regulations mean for
facilities managers and duty holders?
- Sporadic and low-intensity work - what does this mean in
practice?
- Awareness training - who needs awareness training and who is
responsible for ensuring that those working with asbestos have been
properly trained?
John Richards, author of the report and technical director at Thames
Laboratories, commented:
"This report aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the subject
for property owners and managers, health and safety professionals, facilities
managers, and - of course - all employers who have duties under asbestos
legislation."
The report can be downloaded from Thames Laboratories' website at
