HAWTHORNE, Calif., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- ShareFest Community Development in cooperation with the Hawthorne/Lawndale Minister's Association adopted 19 single parent homes in the South Bay. As part of the ShareFest's Annual Workday May 19th, volunteers from local churches and civic organizations have been performing work on their homes and provide much needed items such as clothing.
"As a ministers' association, we realized that, although we live in an outstanding community, there is a great need among our single-parent homes and the youth/children that live in them. We recognize our responsibility, as the local churches, to help care for the needs of our less fortunate families. Our goal was simply to 'do something about it.' In partnering with ShareFest, we were able to 'adopt' 19 single-parent homes in the South Bay area to be the subjects of our attention & help. Homes were painted. Clothes were purchased. Furniture and food were brought in, all in attempt to raise the spirits and living-conditions of some of our most valuable citizens. It was truly an honor to partner with ShareFest and our local community leaders in reaching the needs of less fortunate homes in our community," said Greg Liles of the Hawthorne/Lawndale Ministers Association.
