SUNNYVALE, CA -- 10/06/09 --
Mirapoint®, the secure-messaging experts
for enterprises, service providers, and educational institutions, today
announced the release of new software for all of its RazorSafe email
archiving appliances. The new 4.3 software release not only makes it easier
to archive, retrieve, and restore, but also includes new features that
allow administrators to be more proactive.
"Archiving affects every portion of an enterprise," said Jeff Witous, CEO
of Mirapoint. "Corporate officers want to be assured that they are covered
in the case of litigation. System administrators need to know that the
system is working without having to babysit it. And employees require a
prompt restore of their inbox should something happen to their desktop
computer. Mirapoint fulfills all of these requirements in an appliance
form-factor, which is specifically engineered and marketed to provide a TCO
lower than hosted services or software-based archiving programs."
The RazorSafe unique method for archiving emails does not interrupt the
SMTP path, so it works transparently in the background without slowing down
or interfering with incoming mail, and the appliance is easy to implement
with any standards-based legacy mail server.
Additionally, this new software allows for transparent and intelligent
remote backup to a specified network location. All copied messages are
placed into a permanent archive on the network, eradicating the need for
tape-based or additional redundancy systems.
This centralized backup eases the restore process, which is also
significantly faster than allowed by the previous software version. If a
restore is necessary, all the data can be re-imaged and pulled back with
the push of one button.
"The last thing a company wants is to dig through backup tapes in response
to litigation. Storing backups at a centralized location on the network
makes a lot of sense, and the alerts that can be customized will be a bonus
to sys admins who don't like surprises," said Michael Osterman of Osterman
Research.
The new 4.3 software for RazorSafe allows administrators to monitor disk
space and volume with custom-alert functionality. Additionally, Mirapoint's
policy control and filtering capabilities allow administrators to capture
both inbound and outbound messages and organize the archive by sender,
recipient, department, or keywords.
"We are proud to supply a true plug-and-play solution for one of the most
vexing problems faced by enterprises," said Witous. "And with the recent
addition of our RazorSafe 150 appliance, every enterprise, whether they
serve 750 to hundreds of thousands of users, can enjoy the peace of mind
that comes with our easy-to-use archiving appliances."
The fact that Mirapoint comes in with a low TCO can only improve its
attractiveness to customers.
"For the past two years, e-discovery was all the rage, but now, companies
are focusing more strongly on cost reduction when choosing an archive
solution. The companies that offer archiving solutions with comprehensive
e-discovery features at a low Total Cost of Ownership will be in a good
position in this marketplace," said Sheila Childs of Gartner.
With the newly updated software for RazorSafe appliances, Mirapoint's
customers may now choose from even more powerful solutions for meeting
compliance regulations affecting businesses of all sizes. Its expanded
RazorSafe 150, 200, 400, and 6000 product line adds seamless integration
with email clients including Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Notes, Novell
GroupWise on top of existing web access, and supports all major email
servers, including Microsoft Exchange, Novell GroupWise, Lotus Domino, and
Mirapoint Message Server.
