KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The new Dunkin' Donuts in Overland Park will celebrate its grand opening, Thursday, Nov. 12, with Hall of Famer George Brett launching an on-site food drive for Harvesters Community Food Network.

The new restaurant, located at 7722 W. 151st St., is owned by local developer Verona Key LLC, which plans to open 15 new Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in Greater Kansas City.

Doors will open to the public at 5 a.m. Brett will arrive at 7 a.m. to officially kick off the "Dunkin' Donuts Coffee for Cans" food drive at the new restaurant. At 9 a.m., he will be joined by Harvesters President and CEO Karen Haren and City Council President Fred Spears for the store ribbon-cutting ceremony.

A large, 53-foot trailer truck will be on site through Friday, Nov. 13, to collect canned goods for Harvesters. Each person who brings at least three cans of food during the two-day period will receive a coupon for a Free Medium DD coffee, no purchase necessary.

In addition to hosting the food drive and giving away free coffee to donors, Verona Key's Jen Benjamin and Kristin Rhyne McClure will donate $2,000 to Harvesters, an amount that will provide 10,000 meals to feed the hungry. They also created a special Harvesters donut--a chocolate, fall sprinkles donut--that will be sold throughout the month of November to help call attention to Harvesters' work and the more than 60,000 people the food bank feeds each week.

Verona Key, LLC is a partnership between Jennifer Benjamin, president, and Kristin Rhyne McClure, COO and CFO. Benjamin and her family have lived in Johnson County for 14 years. McClure and her family reside in Boston, which is the headquarters of Dunkin' Brands, Inc. For more information, visit http://cupofkc.com/.
