LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM -- 10/30/09 -- E.ON Energy's brand new fixed tariff is already offering the cheapest fixed-price energy for average households, according to the Energy Choices, the energy comparison website.

The Fix Online v4 offer gives consumers the benefit of knowing their energy prices won't rise until February 2011 at the earliest, and the tariff has immediately gone to the top of the 'best buy' tables for dual fuel fixed energy.

The tariff is available for electricity only or dual fuel and customers must be able to manage their accounts online and pay by monthly direct debit. E.ON won't send out paper bills - customers will receive an email when their bill is ready for viewing online.

As with most fixed-price energy tariffs, there is an exit fee to pay for ending the contract early (i.e. before 1st February 2011). This is Pounds Sterling 30 for dual fuel and Pounds Sterling 10 for electricity only.

E.ON Energy is part of the E.ON Group, currently one of the biggest players in the energy market, and employs 17,000 people in the UK.

Chris Eagle Commercial Manager for Energy Choices said: "Fixed tariffs tend to be more expensive than standard ones, so there are still cheaper options available if you don't mind the prospect of bills rising. But, for those customers who are worried about their bills, especially over the winter months, Fix Online v4 offers a great deal."

The tariff is certainly the cheapest of its kind for the average household (those that use 20,500kWhs of gas and 3,300kWhs of electricity a year) but customers should compare energy prices from all the tariffs available to make sure they are getting the best deal.
