BURBANK, Calif. - (Business Wire) Disney Sound’s newest artist, KSM will kick off opening for the “Demi Lovato Summer Tour 2009” on June 21 in Hartford, Connecticut at the XL Center through July 22 in Kansas City, Missouri. KSM will open on 22 dates of Lovato’s 40-city North American tour, produced by AEG Live.

Late last year, KSM wrapped their first tour, opening for the 32-city 2008 Tour of Gymnastics Superstars with Olympic medalists Nastia Liukin, Shawn Johnson and others. Earlier this year, KSM opened for Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and Honor Society. The girls’ January appearance with Jonas Brothers in Detroit, resulted in an MTV Buzzworthy mention: “But if you can (temporarily) snap yourself out of your OMJ! euphoria, you might just notice that those chicks on stage are doing a pretty good job of warming up the crowd. And from the sounds of their single, ‘Distracted,’ we’re thinking their LP may well be hyperventilation-worthy in its own right.”

KSM’s first Radio Disney single, “Distracted” was written and produced by hit makers Matthew Gerrard and Robbie Nevil -- the team responsible for chart-topping songs from High School Musical, Hannah Montana, Jesse McCartney and Hilary Duff. The track debuted on Radio Disney’s Music Mailbag “Pick it or Kick it” feature with an impressive 96% of the listeners who voted to "pick" the track.

Most recently, KSM were invited to record their own rendition of the Cheap Trick classic “I Want You to Want Me,” which will appear in the new ABC Family summer original series, “10 Things I Hate About You” premiering Tuesday, July 7 (8:00 – 8:30 p.m. ET/PT). A :60 music video promo featuring the cast of “10 Things I Hate About You” began airing on ABC Family on June 17, and a full-length music video featuring the band and show’s cast - including Ethan Peck, Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Martin, Dana Davis, and Nicholas Braun - with additional streams and behind-the-scenes videos is available now on ABCFamily.com at http://community.abcfamily.go.com/watch/10thingsihateaboutyou/music-videos-we-want-you-watch?icid=home_hero4_r_10things_watch_ksmfullvideo

ABOUT THE BAND:

The Runaways, The Go-Gos and the Bangles…Those cutting edge all–girl groups had a profound influence on what made a rock band and who could play in one. KSM may not be the first all-girl rock band– but they are a force that will definitely fit in the same conversation as many of the iconic female bands before them. They are young but talented beyond their years with no pretense -- and they rock.

When it comes to making music, Shelby (lead vocals & guitar), Katie (guitar & vocals) Shae (lead guitar), Sophia (bass) and Kate (drums), are a wrecking crew unto themselves. They sing of the world they know -- boys, dating, texting, playing and partying -- yet they also bring a surprising measure of depth to their songs.

Says lead singer Shelby, "Being all girl, all teen, we’re usually pre-judged. People don’t expect that much, but we usually convince the audience that we’re a legit rock band, not just a ‘chick band.’ KSM...5 girls taking music into their own hands and ready to show their generation what girl power is all about.
