WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH -- 11/04/09 -- Classic car enthusiasts want classic color when they are painstakingly restoring their prized muscle and high performance cars.

So, what do you get when you take Barrett-Jackson® -- the nation's premier name in classic and collector cars and the host of the world's greatest collector car auctions -- and combine it with Planet Color® -- the leading name in custom paints from Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. (SWAFC)?

The new Planet Color® Barrett-Jackson Collector Color Series paint line: 25 of the most inspiring classic vehicle finishes and colors found on many of today's custom rides.

"Barrett-Jackson has provided us with valuable information on re-styled vehicle colors from the iconic muscle car era, as well as the hottest colors in demand by today's top custom-car restoration builders," says David Kidd, Sherwin-Williams Automotive OEM Business Development Manager/Planet Color. "The result? New custom finishes that perfectly match the rich vibrant colors of the classics, teamed up with unparalleled durability, clarity and a brilliant appearance."

To celebrate the new color offerings, SWAFC and Barrett-Jackson are encouraging restorers to paint their vehicles using the new palette and enter them in the new Color Your Classic(TM) competition. Any vehicle -- cars, trucks, motorcycles, watercraft, etc. -- finished with colors from the new Planet Color Barrett-Jackson Collector Color Series palette are eligible to enter.

"We are excited to team up with Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp.," said Craig Jackson, Barrett-Jackson Chairman/CEO. "We believe this relationship will provide automotive enthusiasts, collectors and true artists with some of the finest products to either re-create the classic car colors they remember or create new designs limited only by their imagination. We hope this contest will inspire amazing creativity and innovation with this new palette."

Winners receive two VIP tickets to the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction to be held in January 2011. The prize package also includes airfare and deluxe hotel accommodations (three days, two nights) and rental car in Arizona.

The online competition, which was announced Nov. 4 at the SEMA show in Las Vegas, will run through April 1, 2010.

Entries can be submitted at www.planetcolor.com and complete contest rules, including entry requirements and judging information will be posted online. The website will allow visitors to view and vote online for the vehicle of their choice.

"We want everyone who loves their classic to really show their stuff," says Steve Davis, Barrett-Jackson President. "In fact, I challenge restorers to enter the Color Your Classic competition to see if they can beat the new Collector Color Series 'Red Hot Chili Pepper' finish on my little '64 Ford Fairlane."

Davis' meticulously restored Fairlane, was unveiled at the SEMA show at a press conference to announce the contest, and images are also available at www.planetcolor.com.
