BRATISLAVA, Slovakia, November 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ness Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSTC and TASE: NSTC), a global provider of information technology solutions and services, announced today that it has won a public tender to provide online land registry (cadastre) services to the Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority of the Slovak Republic. Ness competed on the tender in cooperation with a partner, DWC Slovakia, which will provide hardware for the deal, while Ness will provide intellectual property, software development, system integration and support services. Ness' portion of the three-year deal is valued at EUR13 million, or $20 million, including VAT, which corresponds to EUR11 million, or $17 million, excluding VAT.
Ness Europe is one the biggest providers of solutions for the Central and Eastern European eGovernment sector, including the computerization and modernization of land registry processes. Ness has over 15 years of experience in this field and has been instrumental in building both fee-based and free land registry portals in Slovakia and in the Czech Republic, where it established the country's entire land registry information system.
The Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority of the Slovak Republic ("GCCA"), which wished to extend its current information systems, announced the public tender in June 2009 and awarded the contract in October - to a consortium of Ness and DWC Slovakia. Ness and DWC have cooperated on other public sector and state administration engagements previously.
"The successful execution of this project will launch 45 key online services, which will allow the cadastral division to interface much more closely with the public and private sectors, as well as other divisions of the public administration," said L'udovit Hamas, Director of the Research Institute of Geodesy and Cartography in Bratislava, in assessing the benefits of this project. "We selected the consortium of Ness and DWC because of their reputation as superior and reliable partners. We believe that this project will facilitate and simplify access to the country's real estate cadastre not only for corporate entities but especially for citizens."
"We are pleased to win this significant tender to enhance and extend the GCCA's land registry system, and we view it also as an acknowledgment of our expertise and experiences in the eGovernment sector", said Martin Kohut, Managing Director Ness Slovakia. "We undertake a high responsibility with this project; both to the GCCA and particularly to the citizens of Slovakia. This engagement is in line with our goal to provide sophisticated, well-functioning online services to citizens and thus to contribute to the automation of our society."
Over the next 36 months, the engagement team will centralize Slovakia's currently distributed real estate cadastre information system, thus creating a unified and data-consistent source of land registry information. At the same time, the team will make the system accessible to and applicable for routine real estate legal transactions such as registering new properties, updating or assigning property deeds, and getting information on the processing status of applications filed by citizens. The system will also produce property deed abstracts for legal actions, copies of cadastral maps with valid vector cadastral coordinates, and registry information on owners and other authorized persons.
DWC Slovakia is a well-established provider of document management solutions for the public administration sector. It has long-standing practical experiences and specialized know-how in the areas of document governance, document management systems and enterprise content management
