WASHINGTON, May 22 PAMA-Technician-Day
WASHINGTON, May 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Although it has long been recognized by those in the aviation maintenance industry, National Aviation Maintenance Technician Day is one step closer to being official after the U.S. House of Representative voted to support its establishment.

Under H. Res. 444, each May 24 will celebrate, honor and recognize the achievements of the Wright brothers' first flight mechanic, Charles E. Taylor, and all certified aviation maintenance professionals who work tirelessly to ensure safety in the skies through passion and professionalism.

The resolution has the backing and support of the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (PAMA).

"This is a great milestone for all aviation maintenance professionals," Clark Gordon, PAMA Chairman, said. "It is an honor to know our Congressional House of Representatives recognizes our professionalism, hard work, unique skills and dedication to continued education so that others can rest assured they fly in safety with the best maintained aircraft in the world."

Next, H. Res. 444 will be introduced to the U.S. Senate for review and possible vote and, if approved, will go to the President for signature.

PAMA solicits the aviation community's continued support for National Aviation Maintenance Technician Day and requests everyone continue contacting their respective senators in Congress. "We are on the path to passing this resolution," Gordon said. "PAMA will continue to lead the charge with the support of other organizations to lobby for the recognition of National Aviation Maintenance Technician Day nationwide with the passage of this bill in the Senate."
