NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 3 NASBA-new-board-meet
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) elected a new slate of board members at its 102nd Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, November 1-4, 2009.
Billy M. Atkinson, CPA, of Houston, Texas, acceded to the position of Chair for 2009-2010. Atkinson previously served as vice chair and secretary of the NASBA Board of Directors as well as chair of the Audit and Education Committees. In addition, he has served on NASBA's Compliance Assurance, Nominating, Regulatory Response and Regulatory Structures Committees.
Appointed to the Texas State Board of Accountancy in 1999, Atkinson served as the Texas Board's presiding officer from 2003-2005. A 37-year veteran of the accounting profession, Atkinson has acquired much of his experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, where he has been an audit partner since 1982.
Atkinson's professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of CPAs' Council (2003-2006) and the Texas Society of CPAs, which presented him their "Meritorious Service to the CPA Profession" award in 2005, regarded as the Society's highest acknowledgement.

Michael T. Daggett, CPA, of Phoenix, Arizona, was elected as Vice Chair. Daggett is the past president of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy and former president and life member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA). Daggett's contributions to NASBA include, serving on the NASBA Board of Directors as director-at-large, and serving as the chairman of both the Litigation Response and Ethics Committees. He was also a member of the Uniform Accountancy Act, Regulatory Structures and Nominating Committees. Currently, Daggett is a member of the Global Strategies Committee and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
David D. Duree, CPA, Quality Control Partner for Elms, Faris & Co., LLP, of Odessa, Texas, was elected as Southwest Regional Director. Mr. Duree is an active member of NASBA's Relations with Member Boards Committee, Audit and the Enforcement Assessment & Best Practices Committees. He has also served on NASBA's Administration and Finance Committee and Enforcement Practices Committee.
Telford A. Lodden, CPA, Managing Partner of Brooks Lodden, P.C., of West Des Moines, Iowa, was elected as Central Regional Director. Lodden is a member of NASBA's Bylaws Committee, CPE Advisory Committee and the Relations with Member Boards Committee. In addition, he has been the chair of the Iowa Accountancy Examining Board since 1999.
Daniel Sweetwood, CPA, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, was elected as Executive Directors Liaison for 2009-2010. Sweetwood is a member of NASBA's Accountancy Licensee Database (ALD) Task Force, Executive Directors Committee and the Relations with Member Boards Committee. He has also been involved with NASBA's Uniform Accountancy Act Committee. In addition, Mr. Sweetwood has been the Executive Director of the Nebraska Board of Public Accountancy for over 7 years.
