RICHMOND, Va. - (Business Wire) MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE:MWV) announced today that it will discontinue operations at its MWV Packaging plant in Warrington, Pennsylvania, in an effort to streamline cost and operational efficiencies. The facility produces visual and paperboard packaging for the personal and beauty care industry.

Some production at this facility will transfer to other MWV Packaging facilities, and the companys capacity to supply these products will not be affected. Closure of the Warrington facility, expected by late summer 2008, will maximize the companys operations and resources, enabling MWV to efficiently serve its customers in the personal and beauty care industry around the world.

The decision to close our Warrington facility is based on careful analysis of our operations and the need to create a more efficient operation that will strengthen our presence in the personal and beauty care packaging market, said Mark S. Cross, senior vice president of MWV Packaging.

The closure of the Warrington plant will impact approximately 145 employees, hourly and salaried. Affected salaried employees will be eligible for separation benefits in accordance with company policy. Separation benefits for hourly employees will be the subject of discussion with their union representative.
