CINCINNATI - (Business Wire) Girindus America, Inc., a service provider to the pharmaceutical industry and a leading manufacturer of therapeutic oligonucleotides, is pleased to announce that Mr. David Kennedy has joined Girindus as Director of Operations. Mr. Kennedy will report directly to Dr. F. Mark Laskovics, President and COO. Mr. Kennedy will lead the Oligonucleotide, Small Molecule and Radiochemistry operations. Mr. Kennedy brings to Girindus 30 years of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) production experience in both the process validation and commercial manufacturing areas. 'David's addition enforces Girindus' technical competence and capability to develop and execute commercial manufacturing programs.' Mr. Kennedy received his B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering at Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. Previously, he worked for Pfizer in the areas of process engineering, bio-process development, commercial API production, and production of sterile injectables. In a related move, Dr. Kathryn Ackley has assumed leadership of Girindus' Project Management group. In her new role, Dr. Ackley will manage the commercial aspects of manufacturing programs; she will be the main interface between clients and Girindus' operating and commercial groups. 'Kathy has the unique skills to successfully bridge the technical and commercial interface', said Dr. Laskovics. 'She has led both the Analytics and Operations groups, while playing a key role in supporting the Sales Function.' Dr. Ackley earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky and both a Master's and a Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. She joined Girindus in 2001 as an Analytical Chemist and has taken on positions of increasing responsibility. She became Section Head of the Analytics Group in 2003, Production Manager in 2006 and Director of Operations in 2008. Dr. Ackley was a 2006 recipient of the Solvay President's Award for Excellence.
