The unit, managed by Todd Benson and Darren Friedman, oversees about $2 billion of Citigroup's money. Benson and Friedman have considered buying the unit for themselves together with new partners or with other financing.

Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC) surged 1.17% to $15.60 on 171.59 million shares. The stock hit an intraday high and an intraday low of $15.68 and $15.31 respectively.
